# Monitoring

### What is the Monitoring API?

Vcheck Global Monitoring is a continuous monitoring service for adverse media, criminal records, PEP, sanctions, and watchlists. Subjects are enrolled through the API and monitored continuously. When a new finding is detected, an alert is created and delivered through the configured channel.

### Integration Steps

| Step | Action                                                      | Outcome                                |
| ---- | ----------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- |
| 1    | Authenticate via OAuth 2.0 (`POST /oauth2/token`)           | Bearer token received (valid 1 hour)   |
| 2    | List monitoring products (`GET /monitoring/products`)       | Valid product IDs for your account     |
| 3    | Place monitoring order (`POST /monitoring/request`)         | `request_id` returned; subjects queued |
| 4    | Track order status (`GET /monitoring/request/{request_id}`) | Order and subject activation status    |
| 5    | Retrieve alerts (`GET /monitoring/alerts`)                  | Account-wide or filtered alert list    |

### Scopes

| Scope                                | Access                                                              |
| ------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `api-platform/monitoring-read`       | List products, groups, subjects, and alerts - read-only             |
| `api-platform/monitoring-read-write` | All read operations plus place orders and control monitoring on/off |

### The Guarantee

> **Core Principle** - A request is either refused synchronously with a reason the client can act on, or accepted and made durable. There is no third outcome.

### Alert Types

Alerts are grouped into categories for prioritisation:

| Category                     | Alert Types                                                                    |

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.vcheckglobal.com/api-reference/monitoring.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
